P. T. Usha’s Bio and Career
P. T. Usha was one of the country’s most well-known female athletes. For nearly 20 years of her illustrious career, she virtually owned the field and track events. P.T. Usha was known as the “Payyoli Express.” Because of her incredible speed on the track, she was also known as the “golden girl.”
Usha earned numerous national and international accolades during her illustrious career. In a nearly two-decade career, she has won as many as thirty-three international medals, including thirteen gold medals at the Asian Championships and Asian Games. In the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, she lost out on a bronze medal by 1/100th of a second. Usha has received about thirty International Awards for her achievements in Athletics as a result of her earnest efforts and perseverance. Usha was the happy winner of the Adidas Golden Shoe award for the best athlete in the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul, Korea. The IOA dubbed her the ‘Sportsperson of the Century,’ which was the pinnacle of her career (IndianOlympicAssociation).
She had a natural talent for sports as a child. Her determination earned her a scholarship of INR 250 from the government of her home state of Kerala, which enabled Usha to attend a prestigious sports school in Canmore. Usha competed in the National School Games for the first time in 1979. During this time, Coach O. M. Nambiar noticed her. He was convinced that this girl had immense potential, so he began coaching her. This was a watershed moment in her illustrious career.

Family, Relatives, and Other Relationships of P. T. Usha
E.P.M. Paithal and T. V. Lakshmi gave birth to P. T. Usha. She has two sisters, Shobha and Suma, and a brother, Pradeep. Since 1991, she has been married to V Srinivasan. Ujjwal Srinivasan, the couple’s son, was born in 1992.
