Chelsea announced on Friday that Thomas Tuchel’s contract has been extended until 2024 after the German coach won the Champions League this season.
Tuchel took over midway through the 2020-21 season when Frank Lampard was fired by the Premier League team, and the German guided them to a top-four finish and the FA Cup final.
With a 1-0 triumph over Manchester City in Porto, his team won the Champions League.
“I can’t think of a more appropriate time for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the opportunity and delighted to be a member of the Chelsea family “Tuchel remarked.
“There’s a lot more to come, and we’re looking forward to taking our next steps with zeal and excitement.”
Tuchel joined Chelsea in January on an initial 18-month contract with the option of an extension, which was granted six days after the club won the Champions League.
